Foundations of Healthy Living

Our Foundations of Healthy Living course helps students build a strong foundation by learning how food, movement, and lifestyle choices impact the body and mind. Rooted in real, whole-food principles, this course also includes a weekly physical fitness session to help students connect knowledge with action. It encourages critical thinking about what we eat, how we move, and the habits we form.

Students will explore:

  • The difference between whole and processed foods, and why ultra-processed food harms health

  • The importance of nutrient-dense foods, with a focus on meats, fruits, and simple ingredients

  • How sunlight, daily movement, and proper hydration support long-term wellness

  • Label reading, meal planning, and basic food prep skills

  • The connection between nutrition and energy, focus, sleep, and mood

  • Practical fitness activities to support strength, energy, and confidence

This course is ideal for middle and high school students and can be customized as:

  • A semester health or wellness credit

  • A science or elective credit (with added biology/human anatomy focus)
