At Homeschool Spokane, our mission is to spark a shift—empowering as many families as possible to step away from the one-size-fits-all model of state education and embrace something better. We believe that real learning should be individualized, practical, and rooted in truth—not bureaucracy. Our goal is to make high-quality, accessible homeschool-style education the new normal in Spokane, and to help lead a growing movement toward freedom, clarity, and lifelong purpose in how we educate.

Hi, I’m Andrew Mastronardi.

I believe real education starts with the individual. If the learning process doesn’t reflect who you are—your pace, your questions, your way of understanding—then it isn’t truly your education. Unfortunately, state education often fails to honor that truth. It’s built to standardize, not to individualize. Instead of helping students think critically and grow into independent thinkers, it often trains them to follow directions, memorize facts, and stay in line.

I hold a Master’s degree in Education and Technology and spent 8 years teaching high school Spanish and English in the public school system. While I cared deeply for my students, I grew disillusioned with a system that prioritizes compliance and test scores and passing grades over curiosity and deep understanding.

That’s why I stepped away and began focusing on private teaching and custom curriculum. At Homeschool Spokane, I design personalized, credit-eligible learning experiences that meet students where they are and help them grow into thoughtful, capable individuals. Because education should never be one-size-fits-all—it should fit the learner.

Matthew MASTRONARDI

With a master’s degree in education and four years of experience teaching in the public school system, Matthew brings both expertise and conviction to his role as a contributing educator at Homeschool Spokane. Like many passionate teachers, he entered the classroom with a desire to help students grow—but quickly became disillusioned with a system more focused on compliance and standardization than truth, curiosity, or individual growth. He now works to reclaim what education should be: personal, honest, and centered on the development of the whole student. At Homeschool Spokane, Matthew helps create a learning environment where students are seen, challenged, and equipped for real life.

  • Yes, this is a drop-off program for enrolled students during the 3-hour block. BUT parents are always welcome to stay, visit or check in or learn alongside their child!

  • Parents are welcome to be as involved as they’d like. Some choose to stay and learn alongside their child, while others prefer to drop off and check in later. Either way, I keep communication open and consistent—I’ll be regularly updating you on your student’s progress, strengths, and areas for growth. My goal is to partner with you in a way that supports your child’s learning and fits your family’s needs.

  • We don’t issue formal grades because we believe true learning isn’t measured by letters or numbers—it’s measured by growth, curiosity, and real understanding. Grades often reduce education to performance, not purpose. Instead, we focus on feedback, progress, and helping each student take ownership of what they’ve truly learned. If needed, we can provide documentation for transcripts that reflects student mastery, participation, and excellence in each subject.

  • Yes! Enrolled families will receive access to a private member section of the website where you can track progress and growth, and see weekly updates. This space is designed to keep you informed, involved, and confident in your child’s learning journey.

  • To protect focus and create a meaningful learning environment, the 3-hour session is intended to be phone-free. All learning and work will be done on paper or computers as needed, but personal phones should remain silenced and put away. If a student needs to contact a parent, they’re always welcome to ask.

  • Class sizes are intentionally small, with 8–12 students max, to allow for individual attention, feedback and a close-knit learning environment.

  • No problem! These are beginner-friendly courses designed to meet students where they are and help them build confidence as they grow.

  • Physical fitness is built into the program to support energy, focus, and overall wellness. Depending on the group’s preferences, we may go on short walks, stretch, or do simple bodyweight exercises like push-ups, jumping jacks, and sit-ups—either once a week or as a daily routine. The goal is to keep it accessible, low-pressure, and fun while encouraging lifelong healthy habits.
