How Homeschool Students in Spokane Can Earn Foreign Language Credit with Live Spanish Classes (Middle & High School)

Finally, a Spanish Course for Homeschoolers in Spokane That Actually Works

Most parents want their kids to really learn Spanish—not just memorize vocabulary for a quiz and forget it by next week. If you're homeschooling in Spokane and looking for a Spanish program that helps your child understand, speak, and enjoy the language, our course was built for you.

We don’t follow the traditional school model. We’re inspired by John Taylor Gatto’s philosophy of education—rooted in meaning, curiosity, and freedom, not grades and meaningless benchmarks. That’s why in our course, we don’t just test—we transform.

Real Language Learning—Rooted in Routines That Work

In our homeschool Spanish course, we don’t rely on memorization, testing, or busywork. We focus on language acquisition that lasts, using research-backed methods and predictable weekly routines that help students build fluency one step at a time.

By the end of the course, your middle or high schooler will be able to:

  • ✅ Read and understand beginner stories with growing fluency and comprehension

  • ✅ Recognize and use 500+ high-frequency words and phrases

  • ✅ Creatively write short stories in Spanish

  • ✅ Understand spoken Spanish in short conversations and familiar topics

  • ✅ Build confidence in speaking and responding naturally in everyday situations

These outcomes are made possible through a simple but powerful weekly structure:

  • Monday – Vocabulary Day
We introduce high-frequency verbs and phrases—words your child will actually use in real conversations. These are the core building blocks of fluency.

  • Tuesday – Reading Day
Students read simple, meaningful stories or books that reinforce Monday’s vocabulary. These engaging texts help build comprehension while keeping students interested.

  • Wednesday – Listening Day
Students hear Spanish in action through stories and conversational audio that matches the week’s themes—helping them tune their ears to the rhythm and flow of the language.

  • Thursday – Writing/Speaking Day
Through guided writing activities, students learn to express their thoughts in Spanish, using what they’ve acquired in a creative and low-pressure way.

This routine builds momentum week after week. Instead of cramming for tests, your child will actually acquire the language.

And since we don't give traditional grades (we model our approach after John Taylor Gatto, who believed in learning for meaning, not letter grades), your child’s growth will be measured in real understanding, not arbitrary scores.

Gatto was a New York State Teacher of the Year who spent decades exposing how institutional schooling crushes curiosity and replaces real learning with compliance. His methods emphasized freedom, relevance, and purpose—and that’s exactly what we’ve built into our Spanish course.
